How to Choose Your First Dumbbells

A good pair of dumbbells covers almost every exercise you need at home. The right weight is the one you can lift twelve times with good form, and no more.
Three tips
- Start light. Most people starting out do best with 5 to 7.5 kg a hand.
- Choose rubber heads. Hexagonal rubber heads protect your floor and do not roll away.
- Add a heavier pair later. When twelve reps feel easy, it is time to go up.
Two pairs, one light and one heavier, are enough for a full-body plan three times a week.
